Artiscape 2007

My post is very delinquent on my adventures at Artiscape but here it goes.....my first class was Metal Texture Sampler taught by Cheryl Darrow. We learned several different techniques to design on metal using metal tools, rollers and other shaping instruments. Here was my sampler piece:

My next class was taught by Kim Byerly -- we carved stamps for ATC. I was very apprehensive about this class due to both my inexperience with ATCs and carving. I was the only one in my class to never have carved a stamp prior to this class. We picked a design and then transferred it to our carving block with tracing paper and pencil--here is a carving block:

Next was the carving...here was my semi finished carving:

and finally stamped onto an ATC:

All in all it was not that bad for my first shot. A few areas that can be cleaned up but something I will definitely try and perfect. Those were the only two classes I participated in but I did have a good time hanging out with Kim, Shara and Kecia the remainder of the times when they were not in class. Here is a wonderful artiscape commemorative journal from Shara:Thanks again -- the journal and the candy were great. Perhaps next year I will venture in to another couple classes. My next art adventure will be Nina Bagley's class at Valley Ridge. I need to get out and search for the perfect sticks and stone for my project. I had a whole collection of flint that I acquired for various means as a kid but for the life of me, I can not locate it. I am still hopeful it will surface prior to Nina's class.

Artiscape Trades

Well, here it is. A little plainer than original intentions but then again for starting at 10pm the night before it will have to do....I still don't think it is that bad for my very first ATC.

The cassette and chain pictured is a photo I took of my new road bike after its inaugural ride. Just in case you missed my prior post....here again is the new road rig, the inspiration for this card:

I'll post more after my classes.......here we go.
